Diamond

Adopted

Diamond came into Rescue Friend’s care after being pulled from a high kill shelter in the US. She had been posted for placement as she was on the euthanasia list for space. She arrived in extremely poor condition, emaciated, with rotten teeth, UTI, and a grade 5 heart murmur. Although we were so incredibly hopeful at the time to help her gain weight and feel better so she could receive a dental and live out her retirement being spoiled, fate had another journey set out. Sadly Diamond remained with us for palliative care. A few weeks after her arrival and after promising improvements, Diamond went into heart failure and her body began to shut down. Her foster home adopted her, as we believe no one dies without the love and belonging to a family, and Diamond was laid to rest. Her body no longer had to fight her ailments and she slipped from this world warm, safe, and loved and wrapped in her cozy, granny blanket. Her name hangs in our memorial tree.

Rest in peace sweet girl. We are so sorry humans failed you and help arrived too late. We think often of you fondly and wonder how many more “Diamonds” are waiting in shelters for a chance at their happy retirement. You’ve inspired us to help them too.
