Puppy
Maggy
Adopted
Profile Information/tell us more about this pet | Maggy Maggoo is a very loveable, high energy puppy. She will keep you entertained for hours. She is incredibly sweet but definitely too busy for snuggling. Maggy is very smart and knows how to sit on command and her recall is great. We are working on ‘leave it’ when it comes to our cats, and our small dog but she’s a quick learner and very food motivated so it shouldn’t take too long! She is great with our kids (aged 8, 10, and 11). She’s very gentle and not mouthy at all with them. She loves her toys and bones so that keeps her very entertained but will do best in a home with a young playmate that could help tucker her out. She would be best suited for a home that is willing to work with her high energy levels both mentally and physically. She’s starting to be great on a leash, we plan on taking her for more walks to work even further on this. |

She’s very good with our dogs with other items. She does cautiously take items (bones and toys) from our dogs but she’s none aggressive about it. |

How does this animal behave around cats? | Yes, has lived with cats She likes to chase our cats but doesn’t know what to do once she gets them. Our cats have given her a few good whacks so she’s getting better with them. |
Feeding Requirements? | We feed her in her crate 2 meals a day. This teaches her to love her crate space and go ‘In’ her crate with the command ‘In’ so we don’t have to force her but I don’t believe she would require this. She’s pretty easy going with food. |
Leash/Collar training? | Already wearing a collar and used to it Learning about walks and loving it She’s stubborn and likes to put on the breaks but we are working on it. She’s super smart so won’t take long. |
Being left alone? | Needs to be crated Can only be left for short time periods She’s a puppy still so requires more frequent bathroom breaks at the moment. She is used to her crate and is quiet though. |
House training? | Working on it and doing great for a puppy his/her age Crate trained Partially housebroken, but doesn’t know how to tell you when needs to go outside Can hold it overnight She’s doing really great but still has accidents from time to time. She’s pretty great with going to the washroom with each outside visit so accidents are in frequent but she’s not 100% yet. |
Fences? | Needs a fence 6 feet high Her recall is fantastic but if you live in town she will require a 6 foot fence. She’s going to be a large breed dog with long legs so full grown she will for sure scale a 4 foot fence. |
Car rides? | Needs to be in crate Seems unsure of getting into car When she was brought from Sask she did that whole car ride great without any car sickness but on the way to the vet she did get car sick between Didsbury and Calgary so I believe with regular car rides she could be great but I can’t be sure. |
Nail trimming? | We haven’t tried to trim nails yet Had nails trimmed while under during spay surgery but we haven’t done them before or after. |
Any additional comments regarding temperament that haven’t been covered by the questions above? | Maggy is a high energy. She’s going to be a large breed dog that will require a lot of physical activity. She would do best with K9 playmate. Our current dogs are old and grumpy so she would really benefit from a home with a high energy playmate that they can burn energy together! |
