Artistic Rescue Tales (ART) Online Auction

February 14 @ 12:00 pm - February 21 @ 8:00 pm

What the Heck – Animals Creating ART? Launching Valentine’s Day through to February 21st, we bring you the Artistic Rescue Tales (ART) Online Auction!

Rescue animals unleash their inner Picasso to share their unique stories. Hosted by Rescue Friends Animal Foundation, The Artistic Rescue Tales (ART) Online Auction offers animal (and human) art YOU can bid on and enjoy in your home!  Cats, dogs, horses, a steer, a goose, chickens, a pony, a llama, and even goats participated! Check out @rescuefriendscalgary Artistic Rescue Tales YouTube Video Playlist to view shorts and full versions of the animals creating their masterpiece.

Why This Auction Matters:
To highlight the resilience and creativity of rescue animals and emphasize the power of collaboration in the rescue community. Together we are stronger. To raise awareness about the importance of animal rescue and the critical and ongoing need for spay/neuter. To bring focus to the sobering gravity of our current animal overpopulation crisis, and the crucial need to provide reasonable and affordable access to animal medical care for ALL. And, to raise funds for the ongoing care of our animals, now, and in the future.

Who This Auction Supports:
Each participating group was invited by Rescue Friends to join in on the fun! In return, Rescue Friends Animal Foundation organized/is hosting the auction, creating/editing videos if needed, running our YouTube Channel, setting up media coverage, and overseeing the wonderfulness of it all. And it is WONDERFUL!

Meow Foundation, Saving Grace Animal Society, Pawsitive Match Rescue Foundation, Canadian Animal Task Force (CATF), Rescue Friends Animal Foundation, and Bear Valley Rescue each have their own unique focus, but collectively we offer an umbrella of care.

  • Warm and loving foster homes, or well-maintained outdoor shelters if cats are feral
  • access to vet hospitals, clinics and medical care
  • spay/neuter initiatives
  • support to our local communities and to each other
  • palliative and senior animal care
  • farm animal rescue/sanctuary
  • public education about animal rescue

Local Calgary artist Dean Stanton and The Rescue Friends team concocted this zany and ridiculously fun idea. Dean generously donated art pieces for each rescue group to auction off alongside their animal masterpieces, and provided suggestions and guidance where needed. Dean donated Dean’s Interactive Art Project! to Rescue Friends Animal Foundation to offset the cost of hosting this auction. Each group also invited their own human artists to participate and donate art. Check out the auction site to learn more!

How Funds From the Auction Will be Used:
Each group will determine how the funds will be used.  Examples might include:
-Providing medical care, food, and shelter for rescued animals.
-Supporting spay and neuter programs to address pet overpopulation.
-Facilitating adoption efforts to find loving forever homes for animals in need.
-Enhancing community outreach and education programs about animal welfare

Proceeds from the auction directly support these organizations and each listing will clearly indicate which rescue the funds will benefit.  This ensures transparency and a way for YOU to contribute to the initiatives closest to your heart.
