Mistletoe

ADOPTED

Mistletoe is a middle-aged sweetheart. She was sadly debarked in her previous life (debarking a dog is unjustifiably cruel and akin to declawing a cat, depriving a dog from it’s primary means of expression, it is an invasive surgical procedure that involves removing a large amount of laryngeal tissue),  as such when she vocalizes it sounds like bird noises, and it confuses most people as they see a dog but hear a canary in the room. She is tiny but mighty and happily spends most of her time tucked in her bed  or with her foster mom.

Mistletoe loves her space and hence, with resident dogs, she will initially try to be protective but quickly lets dogs in if they are respectful, calm and quiet. She loves to curl up on the couch and watch tv. Will spook easily if she hears loud noises and squeak at them. She would love a home to retire in after a long and tiring journey. A home with children 10 years or older, an older couple who is often home than not. She can get along/ coexist with other senior resident dogs or dogs that are submissive, calm and independent.

Unfortunately, going outside to potty isn’t her favorite activity (weather dependent), but she is working hard at improving those skills, patience is key when working on housetraining these older dogs.

Mistletoe is about 8 years old and looks like a Mini Poodle. Mistletoe is a dog from our partnership with Saving Harbin Dogs, please view that page for more information about adoption and fees. She is located in Calgary
