Any additional comments regarding temperament that haven’t been covered by the questions above? Meet Moose! This dude has a personality as big as he is! This awesome guy had a bit of a late start in life so he is not as up to scratch on his manners as some other dogs his age. But what he is missing in manners he makes up for in his zest for life, love of his people, and willingness to learn. In a few short lessons, Moose has learned reliable sit, turn, spin, focus, leave it, trade, and has almost nailed down. Moose works very hard to focus on his handler, and with a combination of food rewards and toys, we have him to a 90% focus and loose leash walk. Moose has a big nose and likes to use it. Due to his past lack of experience, this makes him very eager to get to new things and smells, and with that big body can make him a bit difficult to handle on leash. He will throw some occasional barks at passersby and other dogs but from what we have seen there is no real intent, he is just surprised other things exist. Like so many rescues, Moose would benefit significantly from a positive training class to add to his life skills. If you have a good understanding of dogs and a sense of humor this boob is for you. Moose has a low to moderate energy level that is easily drained by sniff-driven walks, ball play, private off-leash park time, or long line in an open field. He loves playing “find it “for treats in the grass or swinging his ball on a string around like a propeller. Due to his size and exuberant nature, we would recommend a home with children over 10. He enjoys big boy chew toys and can entertain himself in and out if his kennel with supervision. Moose has spent a long period of his existence in a kennel, so though his house manners are very good, he needs a little extra help learning the ropes. He is polite in his crate and will settle for a nap. This hilarious boy has so many big boy hugs and love to give, and can’t wait to find his perfect family to help him on his newest adventure. Give this handsome hunk of love a new lease on life, adopt Moose today
